Say hello to my latest knitting pattern Hessian. So called for the repeating slipped stitch pattern used, which creates a similar texture and weave to a hessian or burlap fabric. This super soft baby blanket knitting pattern is quick to knit, and features a non-rolling edge stitch for a very neat finish. It’s available to purchase on Ravelry and LoveKnitting right now.
I’m loving using cottons for my baby blankets at the moment, and for this creation I chose to use Rico Creative Cotton Aran in colourway 31 Smoky Blue. This soft blue green shade veers away from the traditional ‘baby blue’ or ‘baby pink’, and I just love the subtlety to this particular colour.
This criss-cross weave stitch builds texture quickly and drapes beautifully when using the aran weight cotton. Bonus – the reverse is just as beautiful as the right side.
And because of this it’s both light in the summer, yet warm and snuggly in the winter – sounds mad I know, but you have to try it to believe it. Lovely baby blanket for a little one!
Happy knitting!

Hi Veronica! You have been busy! Lovely shawl pattern. Quite windy and dull here at Cape Panwa. Love your website. Best wishes to you both. Dorothy and Peter
