Quince & Co. Olga sweater

After finishing the Honeymaker, I enjoyed using Quince & Co. yarn so much, I immediately bought two more patterns to attempt. One of these was the Olga sweater knitting pattern, designed by the very talented Olga Buraya Kefelian. All of Olga’s knitwear designs have a classic and timeless feel, and yet are modern and bring something different and new. Her website Olga Jazzy showcases a number of her inspiring patterns – please go take a look!

This has been a long time in the making…anyone who follows me on Instagram will know I spent many of my evenings over the last few months pouring over this epic cabled jumper by Quince & Co. It’s taken me even longer to take images for this blog post, because me and this jumper needed a time out!

I chose the Honeymaker knitting pattern to challenge myself, keep my attention, teach me a thing or two – I wanted something that wasn’t just stockinette stitch. Well this certainly delivered! Continue reading

Mum’s knitted hat and mittens

I know I’m biased, but my Mum’s awesome. So when it comes to treating her and buying her gifts, I like to put real effort in. This Christmas I took a break from making my own designs and I made presents of her choosing – a knitted hat and mittens set.

Mum chose the Quincy Moebius Hat by Jared Flood for Brooklyn Tweed and the Sherwood Mitts by Pam Allen for Quince & Co. (She’s got awesome taste in knitting patterns too!) I found both of these patterns lovely to work with and learned a good few things to add to my knitting arsenal!

Quincy Moebius Hat – Jared Flood

Firstly, this hat is downright beautiful. The moebius construction seems like it would be difficult at first glance, but it’s actually really easy to make and I love the way the twist sits when you wear it. Here’s a picture from Brooklyn Tweed’s website to show you what I mean.

Knitwear faves – AW14 part 1

It’s my favourite time of year, when the leaves start to turn and the cool air begins to bite, and my choice of jumper becomes progressively thicker day-by-day. This two part blog explores my favourite jumper knitwear and knitting patterns I’ve discovered this autumn. Comfy, cosy, snuggly, warm and soft – don’t these all just make you want to curl up in a ball with nice hot cup of Ovaltine?

Knitting for me!

So here it goes – my first post. Anyone else struggle with writer’s block?!

I’ve been busy knitting things for friends and family for the past few months, so I’ve finally decided to knit a few things for myself. The main problem with that is, I have too many things that I want need and now I have about five different projects on the go, all half-started, all stashed in a corner waiting for me to prioritise! It’s been almost eight months since I knitted the beautiful Anais sweater by Brooklyn Tweed for myself and I enjoyed it so much, I resolved to keep one project of my own on the go all the time. It’s never that easy!
