Hello!
And welcome to Shortrounds – thanks for taking the time to stop by. My name’s Beth and I’m a knitwear designer based in Nottinghamshire.
Where it all started…
I come from a family of knitters and crafters. My dear Mum, Grandma and aunties all knit or craft in some way or another, so the influence has always been there. But it wasn’t until 2011 when I picked up my knitting needles after a long hiatus. Pinterest is entirely to blame, tempting me with simple-to-knit blankets, scarves and cowls. My friend and I started teaching ourselves to knit using Youtube tutorials and simple-to-follow knitting patterns. And I’ve never looked back…
I guess you could say I was hooked!
A blog
After three years of knitting, my interest was waning. I found knitting blogs and the likes of Ravelry a real source of inspiration, and so in August 2014 I decided to start my own blog. My own little corner of the internet, focusing on the things that inspire and motivate me. Particularly knitting…but let’s not limit ourselves, right?!
Shortrounds started off as a hobby-indulging blog, but has grown quite quickly into a lot more, as I found myself knitting less for myself and more for others. Along the way I also found myself adapting patterns and going ‘off-pattern’ more and more to suit my own needs. And so last year I took the plunge and began creating my own original patterns (something I’d never even thought of doing at all but simply love).
My knitting patterns are available for sale on both Ravelry and Loveknitting.com, and there are a few free knitting patterns also available on my blog. Just look in the Shortrounds Patterns category in the sidebar.
As well as knitting pattern designs, I still love making handmade items for other people, which you can check out on Shortrounds Etsy Shop.
